FairVote is a nonpartisan organization seeking better elections for all. We research and advance voting reforms that make democracy more functional and representative for every American.
FairVote is the national driving force advancing ranked choice voting (RCV) and proportional representation to give voters more choices, fairer representation, and better government. With FairVote’s guidance and a growing coalition of national and state allies, nearly 14 million voters are able to rank candidates in their elections.
FairVote also advises state and national partners on RCV’s uses and implementation.

49 cities, counties, and states use RCV in public elections, up from only two in 2000. Numerous political parties, student governments, and private organizations also use RCV for their elections.
FairVote is a leading research institution known for innovation and a commitment to rigorous and fact-based analysis. We regularly research ranked choice voting elections, primary elections, redistricting and gerrymandering, runoff elections, proportional representation, and other issues that shape our democracy. We ground our work in a simple belief: If we don’t better understand our elections, we won’t change them to make them work better for all Americans.
