To continue expanding ranked choice voting (RCV) to new communities, FairVote launched the Ranked Choice Voting Impact Fund in 2025. The RCV Impact Fund is a program for philanthropists and advocates to build, win, and sustain RCV efforts around the country. Contributions to the fund are regranted to state and local RCV groups, including over a dozen organizations as of fall 2025.

Highlights from our grantees
Grow Democracy DC
In November 2024, voters in our nation’s capital voted to adopt RCV with 73% of the vote. Now, Grow Democracy DC is leading the effort for a successful first implementation in 2026. Grow Democracy DC’s voter education work will leverage best practices from cities and states across the nation, and is critical for a seamless and smooth rollout of this change to the way Washingtonians vote.
Executive Director Lisa D.T. Rice proposed the successful ballot initiative, and now leads Grow Democracy DC. She shares her thoughts on the Impact Fund:

UpVote Virginia
UpVote Virginia has helped bring ranked choice voting to Arlington and Charlottesville, and is active at every stage of supporting RCV campaigns and implementation in the Old Dominion State. UpVote is leading ongoing work to bring RCV to more city elections, as well as efforts in the state legislature to support election administrators in RCV jurisdictions.
