Eli Stettner is an intern for FairVote’s research department under Rachel Hutchinson, for the entire 2023-2024 academic year, and is currently a Senior at Reservoir High School in Fulton, Maryland.
Before he became an intern at FairVote, he had experience researching the effectiveness of state level reforms to prevent gerrymandering in the 2021-2022 cycle, through a high school independent research class. It was through that research on gerrymandering that he was exposed to ranked choice voting. Today he is particularly interested in the confluence of districting and voting reform, and at FairVote has worked in data analysis with Python, writing and data visualization.
In his spare time he runs cross country and distance track for the Reservoir Gators, competes in Lincoln Douglas debate and student Congress in the Baltimore Catholic Forensics League, and in the summers works as a keelboat instructor at the Downtown Sailing Center in Baltimore (as well as competitively racing on an amateur team).
