FairVote Statement On Oakland Election

Following news of errors in ballot tabulation in Oakland, CA, FairVote issued the following statement:
It’s critical that voters have trust and confidence in our elections, and we appreciate that the registrar is being transparent and taking action to address their error. This is the type of fixable human error that we see from election administrator offices across California and the US, and not unique to ranked choice voting. This should also be an opportunity for Alameda County and its vendors to develop and implement additional best practices for future elections, both single-choice and ranked choice.
