It’s that special time of year again: ranked choice voting day is coming up fast! (“1 / 23”)
For the growing ranked choice voting (RCV) movement, now active and organizing in nearly every state, this is the time to hit the ground running and set ourselves up to advance RCV across the country in 2023. That means lifting up the vision of your community becoming one of 500 cities in the United States using RCV, thanking legislative champions and finding more support, getting RCV in the news, and recruiting volunteers to help spread the message.
Want to be a part of RCV Day? RCV groups across the country are hosting welcome events, so you can join in no matter where you live or how involved you want to be. Our partner organization Rank The Vote is spearheading this work nationally.
Looking for a drink? The coming week will see Happy Hours in Richmond, Virginia; Tucson, Arizona; and Butte, Montana to name just a few.
Want to meet others who share your passion for voting reform? Head on over to a meet-and-greet this month with Rank MI Vote or Better Ballot Georgia.
Interested in a deeper dive into RCV strategy? Voter Choice New Jersey and Better Ballot Iowa are hosting strategy and planning meetings, where you can get an inside look into how RCV groups operate and what you can do to help.
Want to make your voice heard? Pro-democracy groups in Virginia are planning a rally outside the State Capitol on January 24, including FairVote Virginia and UpVote Virginia. Better Ballot South Carolina will rally outside their statehouse on the 23rd, together with key RCV advocate Andrew Yang.
Enjoy canvassing? RCV Montana will be at MSU-Bozeman talking with students on January 31, and they’re looking for volunteers!
Prefer a virtual option? Rank the Vote Oklahoma is hosting their January Statewide Meeting on Zoom, with Oklahoma State Representative and RCV advocate Mickey Dollens as a featured speaker. Better Ballot North Carolina and Rank My Vote Florida are also planning virtual meetings.
If none of these events work for you, check out Rank The Vote for a list of the nation’s RCV advocacy groups and even more ways to get involved. You can also help out by spreading the word about ranked choice voting on social media! Here’s a social media toolkit from last year’s RCV Day with sample posts for inspiration.
Let’s start the year off right!
